Understanding Newly Rescued Dogs
Welcoming a newly rescued dog into your home is a wonderful experience, and every dog adjusts in their own way and on their own timeline. Rescue dogs often come with an unknown history — some take to new experiences quickly, others need more time to settle in.
Our program focuses on creating a positive, reassuring grooming experience that builds trust and confidence from the very first session. Our groomers specialize in working with newly adopted dogs, bringing patience and compassion to every step.
This program must start within 30 days of adoption. After 30 days, your dog will be considered for our Reactive Dog Grooming Program instead.
6 Weeks of Trust Building
Sessions are held on consecutive Mondays. If your dog needs more time, we extend to a maximum of 8 weeks at no additional charge.
- Week 1Assessment. Initial behavioral assessment and begin dog-groomer bonding process.
- Weeks 2–4Relationship & Desensitization. Continual relationship building and gradual desensitization of grooming methods.
- Weeks 5–6Full Groom. Full grooming sessions tailored to your dog's comfort level.

Terms & Policies
Appointment & Scheduling
- Submit a grooming request form with accurate and complete information about your dog.
- After we receive your request, we will reach out to schedule a meet & greet.
- This program is only available on Mondays. We are unable to accommodate other days of the week.
- The program must start within 30 days of adoption.
Health & Safety
- All dogs must be up-to-date on their vaccinations. Proof of vaccination may be required.
- Inform us of any health issues, allergies, or medical conditions your dog may have.
- Disclose any known behavioral issues or triggers — this helps us provide the best care for your dog.
Fees & Payment
- The program starts at $450 + GST. The fee may change depending on behavioral severity, breed/size, and desired grooming results.
- Payment is due in full for the first session.
- No extra charges if the program extends to the maximum 8 weeks.
Cancellation
- Please provide at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule.
- A $25 cancellation fee may apply for appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice.
Disclaimer
- We make no guarantees that your dog will be able to tolerate other groomers outside of PAWS.
- Behavioral improvements observed during our sessions may not be maintained in different settings.
- If your dog exhibits aggressive behavior that poses a risk to staff or other dogs, we reserve the right to refuse service.
